• Focus on increasing socially responsible behavior and kindness by using a highly visable portion of the student body - student athletes

 

• Strength and energy generated from connections to teammates and a strong coach empower athletes to overcome impossible odds all the time

 

• The goal is to use this energy to improve social climate, team by team, school by school, community by community

 

• Student athletes, similar to professionals, stand out as role models and potential leaders

 

• Student athletes can lead on and off the field

 

• Bullying is covert and insidious; acts of kindness are out-front and observable

 

• Keep Mean Off The Team succeeds where other anti-bullying programs fall short because of its emphasis on the positive

 

• Athletes, Students, Coaches, Schools and Communities can stand up and  “Be Intolerant of Intolerance”

 

• Initiative promotes socially responsible behavior and carries with it the “fashion” statement:  “Nice is the New Sexy!”
